Affiliate Marketing

1. Finding Your Niche & Avatar

Happy Saturday, welcome to your weekly email.

Last week, I wrote about digital assets and why they’re such a powerful way to rewire your financial future. As promised, I’m diving deeper into each asset giving you real tools and insights to help you either get started or decide which path suits you best.

And this week, we’re starting with one of the most beginner-friendly:
Finding your Niche & Avatar to start Affiliate Marketing

🔍 1. Find Your Niche (Your Topic or Interest)

Your niche is the subject area you’ll focus on. The easiest way to find one is to look at your own life.

👉 What do you already know a lot about?
👉 What have you learned from your job, career, or hobbies?
👉 What problems have you solved in your own life that others still struggle with?

You don’t need to be an expert. Just one step ahead of someone else.

Examples of beginner niches:

🧘‍♂️ Midlife Fitness Without the Gym
💰 Budgeting for Busy Parents
🔨 DIY Home Projects for Beginners
🌱 Healthy Living for Over-40s

Pick something you genuinely care about. That makes it easier to create content and support others.

This is an area that does need some time to think about, and may even change over time as you get better at it. So with that in mind I have broken some down even more for you to go and do some research on what fits you best.

Here’s a deeper breakdown of niche ideas specifically for the middle-aged audience, sorted into Basic, Medium, and High Ticket tiers with examples of what kind of products or businesses you can promote in each one.

🔍 2. Know Your Avatar (Who You’re Helping)

Now think about who you’re speaking to. This is your avatar, your ideal audience. It's not everyone. It's one type of person.

Picture them clearly. Give them a name. Think about their daily life.

❓ What are they struggling with? (problem you can resolve)
❓ What do they want more of?
❓ What are they Googling at 10pm when they feel stuck?

📍 Example avatar:
Lucy, 38, working mum of two. Always running on empty. Wants to manage family finances better but feels overwhelmed.

When you write content or recommend a product, speak directly to Lucy.

👤 Meet Your Avatar: Lucy

To build trust and earn online, you need to know exactly who you’re speaking to. Not “everyone.” Just one clear person your ideal audience, or avatar.

This is Lucy.

💭 Lucy's Daily Life

Lucy’s day starts before 6:30am. She makes packed lunches, gets the kids off to school, then rushes through a quick coffee before opening her laptop for work. Between emails, spreadsheets, and school texts, her brain is in 10 places at once.

By the time dinner's cleared away, she's exhausted mentally and emotionally. But when the house quiets down at night, she often scrolls social media or browses the internet, looking for ideas to:

  • Earn extra money 💷

  • Get healthier 🧘‍♀️

  • Feel more “together” again mentally 🧠

  • Escape the hamster wheel 🚪

😟 Lucy's Pain Points

  • Feels guilty about not having enough time for the kids or herself

  • Hates living paycheck-to-paycheck

  • Stressed by bills, especially rising costs

  • Always tired, but struggles to sleep well

  • Worried about her future retirement feels far away, but so does financial freedom

  • Struggles with motivation and procrastination

🙏 What Lucy Wants More Of

  • Freedom — to travel more, work less, and enjoy life

  • Clarity — a simple plan to improve her finances and well-being

  • Energy — to keep up with the kids and still have time for herself

  • Confidence — to explore new things (like starting something online)

  • Belonging — to feel part of something positive, uplifting, and real

🔍 What Lucy is Googling at 10pm

  • “How to earn extra money from home UK”

  • “Best side hustles for mums”

  • “Easy ways to save on monthly bills”

  • “What is affiliate marketing and how does it work?”

  • “Best budget planner app UK”

  • “Why am I always tired?”

  • “How to sleep better in perimenopause”

  • “Can you start a business without quitting your job?”

💡 Likes & Interests

  • Loves watching feel-good Netflix series

  • Enjoys scrolling home organisation or money-saving hacks on Instagram

  • Often saves recipes, life advice reels, or Amazon finds

  • Follows mums who blog about real life, not perfect lives

  • Interested in journaling, vision boards, and the idea of “more”

  • Dreams of visiting Italy or Bali but feels it’s out of reach

  • Has bought online courses before (but didn’t always finish them)

❌ What Lucy Doesn’t Want

  • Complicated tech or jargon

  • Pushy sales tactics

  • Being made to feel like a failure

  • Unrealistic promises

  • To be told “just hustle harder” she’s already doing her best

🗣️ Your Job? Speak to Lucy. Always.

When you write content, design a landing page, or choose a product to promote you’re talking to Lucy. Not “everyone.” Lucy.

  • Show her you understand

  • Keep it simple

  • Offer real value

  • Focus on progress, not perfection

  • Be human, be honest, be helpful

When Lucy feels seen, she trusts you. And when she trusts you, she clicks.

✅ Your Next Step: Homework

1.Pick one niche. Do a little research. Think about what you enjoy and where you’ve got experience.

2. Create Your Avatar, the more you narrow down the better you will know who you are targeting as your customer.

And remember it’s not about selling… it’s about solving.
